Right from childhood , VIJAY has been an ardent fan of Rajini . In the old days , he watched the movie , Anbuku Nan adimai thrice in a day ! Morning show with mom , matinee show with an uncle without the knowledge of his parents and the night show with his dad , without telling a word to his mom .
VIJAY had acted in SAC `s movies as a child artiste. He drew everybody `s attention by saying Kalaingar `s fiery dialogues ! SAC 's assistant director , Shankar was the person who taught him how to master dialogue delivery.
During a shoot with actress Keerthana , VIJAY was very hesitant for a smooch scene with the heroine, in the presence of his father . As a result , there were many a take . Sensing this , the unit later advised SAC to leave the shooting spot for sometime . As soon as his dad left the smooch scene was taken accurately in just one take , right away.
VIJAY still remembers Rajini `s comments at the pooja function for his debut film , Nalaya theerpu. Those golden words Nee periya nadigaanaga varuva ' are still so close to his heart.
VIJAY is known for being prompt & punctual for work at any given time . Ninaithean vanthai shooting was scheduled and was to take place early in the morning , at Maraiyur ,about 60 kms off Udamalaipettai. While driving to the location , director Selvabharathi kept thinking whether he disturbed VIJAY to reach so early . Suddenly, VIJAY 's car went past Selvabharathi 's car. VIJAY drove so fast , that the director could not keep up with his speed. ! After the director reached the location , he was very astonished to see VIJAY right on time , all set for the shoot with costumes and makeup .
Lending a helping hand and doing lots of charity work ,did not come suddenly . It begun right from school . VIJAY helped a lot of students while studying at Balalok school in Saligram. He also helped his friends who studied visual communication at Loyala college , by recommending them and provided opportunities in his movies.
There `s goes a famous saying by an English scholar : `Tell everybody that you have a lot of friends , but in reality have only a few close friends.' And , this is exactly what VIJAY follows . During college , the actor had just a handful of close buddies . And even today , he still continues to have freindship only with them .
In 1991 , VIJAY went to visit the Vatican along with his parents and uncle. After meeting the Pope, VIJAY was very determined to become a Pope. He was very headstrong with his decision. He persuaded his parents , that first he will get to be a priest and then become a Pope . However, there is a guideline that if a boy desires to become a Pope , there should be more than two sons in a family . After being convinced by his parents about this requirement , VIJAY later had to change his mind.
Traveling in the plane for the first time , kindled another desire in VIJAY : to become a pilot. However, his mom was upset about this idea. She expressed, "you are my only son . How will it be if you're flying all the time?" After realizing that his mom was sad and a bit troubled , he dropped the idea of becoming a pilot. But now look at VIJAY ! As a hero ,he keeps flying across the sky with so much of ease during stunt sequences.
VIJAY `s childhood dream was to get an autograph from Jackie Chan and to meet up with Amitabh Bachan . Well, both his dreams came true , during Dasavatharam movie function. All three met and sat together at the movie's celebration party.
VIJAY first met his sweetheart , Sangeetha at the film city during the shoot Kaalamelam Kaathirupean. She immigrated to the UK at the age of four. Even though she was brought up in English culture , she speaks fluent Tamil. She is actively involved in designing costumes for her husband..
